Charles Smith In my opinion, I think they should refer back to the “Joe Clark” days. Retain a list of students who are identified as trouble makers, who are doing poorly with no intent to learn-you know the type-seat fillers. Those students in particular need to be accompanied by their parents or an immediate family member until change in their scholastic attitude changes. If no change occurs..ship their asses somewhere else or home school. I think that officers with guns should be a last result..especially in elementary schools. High schools maybe..but K-6 is questionable…It starts at home…violence begets violence. It’s a sad situation and its gonna take a village…..not guns

blissfulibra Calverton is on the list of Baltimore’s most dangerous schools. I don’t think guns should be at all school locations but if they have to be I think a BCP officer should be assigned to schools that show increased violence. Too many people in law enforcement act out of fear instead of taking the necessary steps to de-escalate a situation before using deadly force.
dashawnsimone Well, the kids shouldn’t be the only ones armed. If schools can’t effectively keep firearms out of their buildings, then they should have officers equipped with firearms to handle their presence. Someone’s child will likely get shot eventually tho.

Deejaygains Bond No, I think that parents/Guardians , if able to, should check their children (if applicable) prior to them leaving the house for school. While it may appear that an armed cop/guard may be a safety net, it may also cause confusion and fear. Deal with the root of the problem, don’t create another.

Lo Ro I’m tired of people making these comments that don’t work in Baltimore City Public Schools it doesn’t make sense that the only schools in Maryland where the police can’t carry guns is Baltimore City. Wake up people children’s safety first over money.
Toiya Best You darn right they should, my daughter attends a county school and they have a Baltimore county cop at the school everyday. What do you want the cops to do leave the guns in the car and when something happens they run and get it?? By that time a child could be hurt or killed.
Jamez Taylor There are armed guards/police every where. They are at banks, malls, jails, airports, stores, and celebrities and the President are even escorted by guards/police. So, why shouldn’t our children be protected? Even if the guards/police aren’t in the schools, when an intruder invades, you end up calling the people with the guns to come save the day. So, why risk the safety of more children?
