New details have emerged in the murder case of 16 year-old Phylicia Barnes. Phylicia, an honor student in North Carolina, was building a relationship with her older haf-sister when she was visiting her in Baltimore. Her older half-sister’s ex-boyfriend Michael Johnson has official been charged with Phylicia’s murder. State attorneys say Johnson exchanged 500 text messages with Phylicia in the months prior to her death. Phylicia reportedly told a relative that Johnson made her feel uncomfortable.
Johnson was caught on videotape purchasing a 35-gallon plastic tub from Walmart. He was later seen by a neighbor struggling to drag and carry the tub down her half-sister’s apartment steps. At this time authorities believe that Johnson killed Phylicia in her half-sister’s apartment and then dragged her body out to the river.
