It’s been a long time coming but we’re getting closer to Certified Lover Boy. After a surprise appearance on the “Fri Yay Show” with OVO Noel and OVO Mark, Drake confirmed the album is in the mixing stages.

The well-anticipated project would be Drake’s sixth studio album and his first since 2018’s Scorpion. During his appearance Friday night (July 9th), the Toronto artist said, “you know, Uncle Drake is back home to mix the album so she’s got a bunch of new tracks coming her way.” He was referring to one of the host’s daughter who shared that she wanted to listen to “Uncle Drake”.

Drake continued, “on my way home to reunite with my dawg (40) and finish this thing up. CLB on the way! On your head top.”

Border’s open, Drake’s back to work.

According to Hip Hop DX, Drake’s album was delayed because he couldn’t get back to Canada to work on it. The border had been closed during the pandemic. “With border restrictions finally being eased, Drake is safe to head back home to Toronto to put the finishing touches on his anticipated album. Between mixing and mastering, nobody knows exactly long it’s going to take but fans hoping for the LP’s arrival in the next month,” writes Michael Saponara.

Canada is in its first phase of easing border restrictions for travelers entering the country.
