Trump is trying to win over the White suburban voters before the election.

Trump tweeted they will “no longer be bothered” by low-income housing. His overt appeal to the affluent, white, suburban demographic comes on the heels of his faltering poll numbers in that area.

“I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low-income housing built in your neighborhood…” Trump tweeted on Wednesday. “Your housing prices will go up based on the market, and crime will go down. I have rescinded the Obama-Biden AFFH Rule. Enjoy!”

The AFFH rule (Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule), was an update to the 1968 Fair Housing Act. The legislation required communities that received federal funds to address fair housing to assess the discriminatory nature of housing within the local communities, and devise plans to abolish those practices. However, the Trump administration saw this as too daunting a task and said it would be replaced by a new rule that “preserves flexibility for jurisdictions to take action based on the needs, interests, and means of the local community …”
