It’s been an eventful few weeks for anyone trying to follow the mysterious case surrounding former Dallas Policewoman Amber Guyger. She shot and killed Botham Jean in his own home after mistaking it for her own.

Last week, she was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for murder and Jean’s brother, Brandt, showered her with forgiveness. In fact, the entire Jean family was apparently forgiving for Guyger’s wrong doing and Brandt embraced Guyger for an iconic moment in history; a hug between the murderer and the victim’s brother.

The hug, along with other unusual treatment, in court led opinions to be shared across the internet as many in the black community felt that the family was too forgiving and should have been more critical of the justice system for only giving Guyger 10 years.

Many expected more time for Guyger who was officially found guilty for the murder of Botham Jean.
