Tonight in boxing was supposed to be a BIG night; not just for the winner between Mayweather vs McGregor, but also for Baltimore. Our champ, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis was set to fight Francisco Fonseca and keep his title of his International Boxing Federation super featherweight title. Unfortunately, because he was 2 pounds over the 130 weight class, he will have to forfeit his title. If Fonseca wins the fight tonight, he will claim it. If Tank wins, the position would stay vacant.
Tank took to Twitter to apologize.
“I’m young. I’m growing. I had a chance to make the weight. I knew I couldn’t make it & that’s that. I will have a belt again. I lost the belt, not a fight.”
He also took to Instagram to vent.
