Dre’s #breakfastbite.. The Medical Examiner’s Office gets more staff to handle overdose deaths in Maryland. Have someone close to you ever been addicted to drugs? If so, how did you cope with it?

blacklivesmatter_scorpion Ohh! Boy yes lost Mt uncle who shared needle’s and caught full-blown AIDS. He through soooo! much pain and I would not wish that in anyone. R.I.P. Uncle 🙏

whthershey209 Family friend got hooked on drugs. He had a good job. Lost everything. Lost his car to a drug deal and died a tragic death. Even though it’s been 12 years I still remember like it was yesterday

daniheartscurls My brother was a heroin addict for 15 years. At some point we just stopped supporting him and his habit. We stopped enabling him. After multiple attempts to get clean, he was able to stay clean with the use of methadone. He’s been clean for 12 years now.

tothebreakofdawn Yup.. unfortunately I’ve had family members on drugs. It’s sad to see and can be very trying at times. I tried to still love them unconditionally but at times I had to love them from a far. But I’m to say that today they are recovering addicts

lovinty911 although it’s heart breaking and disappointing, it’s an addiction. To witness a family member or friend suffer like that it takes a lot of PRAYER

tearathecreator DRUG ADDICTION HAS ONLY BECOME A PROBLEM NOW THAT WHITE PEOPLE ARE DYING! AS A EMERGENCY MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL BY TRADE, I’VE TREATED AND PRONOUNCED HUNDREDS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS DEAD. DRUGS HAS STRIPPED AND CONTINUES TO STRIP THE BLACK FAMILY. IT USE TO BE OK WHEN THE WHITE PPL. COULD TRAVEL TO BALTIMORE TO GET THEIR FIX AND GO BACK HOME WITHOUT BEING NOTICED. BUT THEY GOT MESSY. I’VE WITNESSED THIS PLAY OUT FOR OVER A DECADE. IT’S COLORLESS NOW AFTER ALL OF THE BLACK PPL HAVE SCREWED LIVES AND FAMILIES.

mizz_undrstud I’m an 80’s baby. I call it the era of crack & AIDS. SO many ppl in my family were heavily addicted and some were infected. Most of them succumbed due to the lifestyle they lead, including my mother in 2008. She had not reached her 39th birthday. As far as coping with addiction that close & being that young, I kept most ppl at a distance. If I can’t trust my own parents, I damn sure couldn’t trust anyone else. I never knew my parents sober and our relationships suffered because of it.

boughettorising Amen, prescription drugs too
