Baltimore City Police Commissioner Kevin Davis and State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby together on Monday praised a pair of city police officers who testified against fellow officer Wesley Cagle.

Cagle was found guilty of first-degree assault last week after prosecutors say he shot Michael Johansen in the groin following a burglary in December 2014. Cagle had been charged with attempted murder in the case, but was found not guilty.
“Officer Cagle walked up to him, called him a piece of s*** and shot him in the groin,” Mosby said. “Had it not been for these two officers (Kevin Leary and Isaiah Smith) coming forward and testifying about this incident, my prosecutors…would not have been able to secure a conviction.”
