Taraji P. Henson is truly my BFF in my head, for real. She is beautiful, talented, a single mother yet doing her thing in Hollywood. She always delivers and never disappoints. And in The Karate Kid she delivers yet again.

Taraji plays the Karate Kid’s mother and in the role she watches her son, played by Jaden Smith, live his dream by going over to China and training to become a great fighter. “[The Karate Kid] is a good, feel- good film for everyone to watch. It makes you laugh, cry, and cheer,” Taraji explained.

When asked how she enjoyed working in China she mentioned that it was nice for the first couple of weeks and then she missed the hell out of America. “Being away from home makes you miss home. Even the germs are different over there,” Taraji joked.

The movie is in theaters today and I will not spoil it for you. I urge you to go out and see it. Kelson “The Urban Informer” saw the premiere and said that it was by far one of the best movies out this year. “I almost cried,” Kels told me. (He is so going to kill me for posting this.) LMAO!

Oh, and I almost forgot. Taraji shouted out the Paradox. “When I was a student at Howard University, we used to drive to Baltimore and go to the Paradox and party ’til like 7 in the morning. That was my stompin’ grounds.”

Look out for Taraji in several more projects. She just got done filming Larry Crowne starring and directed by Tom Hanks. Cedric The Entertainer plays her husband in the film. She’s also featured in Once Fallen with Ed Harris, Peep World with Rainn Wilson and The Good Doctor with Orlando Bloom, all hitting theaters soon. Get ’em girl! Keep doin ya thing.
