Although Ja Rule is off the scene for a minute, he’s still putting in work behind bars with finishing up his upcoming album Pain Is Love 2 and agreed to a phone interview with Online Editor of 92Q.com, @robinrazzi. The rapper, real name Jeffrey Atkins, discussed his upcoming album, being targeted by the NYPD, being arrested with fellow rapper Lil Wayne, completing his GED behind bars and even taking college courses in business.

The rapper is currently serving a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to a 2007 weapons-related charge. Ja Rule was later sentenced to more than two years in prison for failing to file tax returns for three years. The majority of the 28-month federal tax sentence can be served at the same time the Grammy nominee is doing New York state prison time.

Check out Part 1 of his exclusive interview below. Be sure to tune in Part 2 tomorrow as he talks about Pain Is Love 2 in detail, the loss of Heavy D and his take on the new artists on the hip hop scene. Stay tuned…
