This week is Suicide Prevention Week and the whole initiative for this week is to SAVE a life. So I’ll start with “S” for SIGNS:
- Withdrawn or feeling isolated.
- Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain.
- Displaying extreme mood swings.
- Talking about wanting to die or to kill oneself.
Most of us who lost a loved to suicide didn’t notice the signs. Which means you’ll need to step up your communication game and keep the dialogue open. Look for the signs in every situation.
In an emergency, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
