Towson University wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard showed out at his pro day for all the scouts to see, but to his dismay it wasn’t enough to hear his name called during the NFL draft.  However, this is not a story of defeat, but of perseverance and faith.

“I wasn’t too nervous. I felt pretty confident in the results I was putting up because of how much I prepared for the biggest job interview of my life,” says Sheppard.

Sheppard holds impressive numbers: 4.45 in the 40,  a 10.1 in the broad jump and a vertical jump of 35 1/2 inches.  So when the Baltimore Ravens called and asked Sheppard to join their world championship roster, he accepted with gratitude, relief and sweet redemption.

“It was a dream come true. I was born and raised in Baltimore and to play for my hometown I felt nothing but great feelings inside. I look forward to working my butt off every day to show them I deserve to be a part of this great organization.”

The Owings Mills native has a strong work ethic which includes no alcohol during the entire off season and an extremely disciplined training regiment.

“Right after the season ended I got right back in the gym. I also worked with a track coach and we put together a great plan to further my game.”

We look forward to a great 2013-2014 season for the Ravens and welcome Sheppard to the team!  Check out the exclusive interview with Sheppard and his sister Shanae below.
