Rihanna has had her share of ups and downs this year and it keeps rolling in. Heavyweight brand Nivea has decided not to renew Rihanna’s endorsement contract based on the fact they do not consider her not to fit their “family image”. What is weird about Nivea’s change of heart with the pop star is that it has only been a year.
The head of Nivea’s parent company Beiersdorf told the German press “Rihanna is a no go. I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability.
Although Rihanna has other endorsements, Nivea was a major sponsor of her concert tours. Let’s hope that her upcoming Oprah special will show her in a different light and make her more attractive to be picked up by other brands. Be clear in no way is the Rap Attack Crew judging Rihanna, because nobody is perfect. but when you are heavy in the public eye you must admit these type of pictures don’t help when you’re endorsing a global brand.
