Double Your Love Chances With Tinder’s Double Date Feature
Tinder has officially rolled out its brand-new Double Date feature in the U.S., inviting users to team up with a friend and swipe together for group connections. Designed to soothe the pressure of solo dating, especially for Gen Z singles, the feature allows up to three users to pair up and browse other pairs’ profiles in a side-by-side format.
Once a member of your duo swipes right on another pair and they reciprocate, Tinder opens a group chat for all four participants. You can later transition to one-on-one chats with individuals if chemistry sparks.
During the feature’s early testing, which was conducted in Europe and Latin America, 90 percent of Double Date users were under the age of 29, primarily Gen Z. The group-chat format led to a 35 percent increase in messaging volume compared to solo chats, and women were three times more likely to like paired profiles versus individual ones.
This social dating twist builds on Tinder’s previous community-oriented tools like Matchmaker and Share My Date. It arrives at a critical moment, too, as Match Group has reported a decline in subscriptions, prompting a race to reengage younger users.
With a global rollout scheduled for July, Double Date underscores Tinder’s strategy to transform dating from a solitary pursuit into a friendly, group-supported experience. If swiping solo feels exhausting, it might be time to invite your bestie along.
