Applications for the 2025 YouthWorks program are now open for Baltimore youth between the ages of 14 and 21.

The program is an initiative designed to provide young people in Baltimore City with meaningful work experiences, skills development and career exploration opportunities. It offers paid internships and summer employment in various sectors such as government, non-profit organizations and private businesses. YouthWorks aims to help participants to build professional skills, gain job readiness and develop a strong work ethic, all while earning an income. The program also emphasizes educational support, leadership development and mentoring. By partnering with local employers and community organizations, the program strives to reduce youth unemployment and help young people navigate their career paths. Youth applicants can choose from more than 600 different work sites and work up to 25 hours a week at $15 per hour.

Businesses in Baltimore can also apply to become a worksite for the YouthWorks program, providing them with the opportunity to host youth interns and help shape the next generation of workers. These businesses can offer valuable work experience in various fields, such as administration, customer service, healthcare, technology and more. In return, companies can contribute to their community, enhance their corporate social responsibility efforts and potentially discover talented future employees. The application process typically involves providing details about the work environment, the types of roles available and the resources the business can dedicate to training and mentoring youth workers. Once approved, businesses receive support from YouthWorks, including training, stipends to cover interns’ wages and guidance on creating a positive, educational work experience.

Youth interested in gaining employment through the YouthWorks program can apply here, and businesses interested in becoming a worksite can apply here. The deadline is April 17.
