“I Held Back Knockout Blows” Katt Williams Reflects on Viral Interview

Many say Katt Williams “opened the portal” when he sat down with Shannon Sharpe early 2024 for his now-infamous “Club Shay Shay” interview. The comedian made trending headlines with wild (and possibly truthful) claims about high-profile figures. Katt is letting the world know, he has no regrets.

Williams recently spoke at Vulture Festival, where he dived into current events, his upcoming “Heaven on Earth” tour—and of course reflected on the buzz from the January interview.

Katt’s “Club Shay Shay” interview was filled with sharp critiques of a slew of celebs like Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, Tiffany Haddish, Tyler Perry, and Ludacris. The interview has reached a whopping 85 million views on YouTube. At the Vulture fest, Williams revealed he intentionally softened his blows.

“I [set] out to kill the careers of the people I was talking about. But it was so vicious that I erased all of the knockout blows and just left the jabs, so that the comic I’m talking about knows, ‘I know your real story, motherf*****.’”

One big name Williams did not spare was The Diddler (Sean Combs). In January, Williams predicted the music giant would “catch hell in 2024” because “all lies will be exposed.” His comments now seem accurate in light of the recent controversies surrounding Diddy.

Katt even joked about maintaining his outsider status in elite circles.

“…if I’m at the Diddy party, I’m there to tell. I’m there to see, ‘Who the f*** is in here and what do y’all get from being in here?’ So, nobody likes to have me around. I’m there for bad intentions.”

The comedian also touched on other topics, including Mike Tyson’s boxing comeback which he called “a blessing”.

In true Katt fashion, he dropped another set of bold claims…such as his role in inspiring Steph Curry’s signature deep three-point shots. According to Williams, he’s the one who pointed out Curry’s potential for limitless range during a charity basketball game.
