In the sports world, the Williams sisters — Venus and Serena — are national treasures especially in the black community. For two black women to be leading the charge in a Caucasian lead sport — tennis — they are worshiped just as much as they are scrutinized, if not more. Well it’s no secret that they are where they are because of their parents. Most importantly their father Richard Williams. So to pay homage and give an ode of appreciation to their father, they executive produced a movie called, “King Richard” which is out in theaters now.

However, most that have seen the movie had different expectations for the film and were honestly, disappointed. Most expected the movie to highlight the Williams sisters accomplishments, almost as if it was supposed to be their documentary. In a sense it was. However, what the fans forgot was the title of the movie is called, “King Richard.”

The movie was a phenomenal ode to black parenting and also highlighted how sometimes parents can cast their fears on their kids because of their inabilities in their past. Highly recommend every one check it out.
