Wale’s ‘Poke It Out’ is patiently navigating the charts but I predict it’s slated for success. The catchy chorus is dressed by nostalgic vibes and a nod to the legendary emcee, Q-Tip. Like much of today’s music, it’s sampled from a past hit. This one reaches back to Q-Tip’s 1999 chart-topper, ‘Vivrant Thing’.

During his performance at Rolling Loud NYC, Wale brought out Q-Tip to perform the legendary record. “We in Queens, right?” Wale asked during his performance. “I know I’m from out of town but I feel crazy doing this sh*t in Queens and not showing love to the original version of the song.”

The single has fallen on the iTunes charts (#78 as of 10/28/21). It’s peaked on the Billboard charts at #6 as of Oct. 16th. Personally, I believe that the song will continue to climb as the weeks pass. It just seems like more people are becoming exposed to it. ‘Poke It Out’ is one of the singles from Wale’s Folarin II album, released last week.
