After all the controversy of if The USA Men’s Basketball team would be good enough to compete, they came out on top as GOLD Medalist. Kevin Durant was the leading scorer of Team USA in clutch time.
On the Women’s side of Team USA Diana Taurasi (DT) and Sue Bird have officially set history by winning five Gold Medals in the Olympics for the category of basketball. USA Women’s Basketball has won seven straight consecutive GOLD medals since 1996. Dawn Staley who has three Gold Medals as a player received her First Gold Medal as a Coach this year as the USA Women’s team Coach. There was also six first time Olympians on this team.
Overall, USA won a combined total of 113 medals; leading with 39 Gold Medals. Congrats to Team USA Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams on becoming GOLD medalist for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and bringing it back home!
