Baltimore City has agreed to settle a worker compensation claim with the family of former city police Detective Sean Suiter.

He was shot to death three years ago while on assignment in west Baltimore.

According to Fox 45, Baltimore will pay $900,000 to Suiter’s widow and daughter.

While the medical examiner has ruled his death a homicide, an independent review panel later determined that the detective took his own life.

Suiters widow has long denied that claim and though the case still remains open, the city’s law department has agreed to the settlement.

The board of estimates is expected to approve the settlement on Wednesday.
