Puerto Rico Earthquake

Puerto Rico was hit with a 5.5 magnitude earthquake. According to CNN, The city of Ponce was reportedly affected by it. Mayor Maria Melendez of Ponce said several buildings were damaged as a result of the earthquake, and also said: “Officials are assessing the earthquake’s effects and checking on citizens.”

The earthquake comes during Puerto Rico two-month lockdown put place to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Wanda Vazquez address the situation, saying, “We emphasize the importance of remaining calm and urge everyone to always use a face covering when outside the home.” Vazquez noted the Puerto Rican Water and Sewage Authority inspected three dams on the island and did not find any type of damage.
