Director of the Queen & Slim soundtrack, Melina Matsoukas talked about the musical depth of the soundtrack:

“I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul, to modern bounce, hip hop and R&B—much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the 1990s. We partnered with Motown because of their legacy within Black music. I am honored to have worked beside Ethiopia and cannot wait for audiences to hear what each artist has created.”

It’s been a fantasy of hip hop fans everywhere to hear more music from Lauryn Hill whose Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album was quite the tease for a thick discography. It’ll be a good feeling hearing her voice again. At least, I think so. What about you? Are you looking forward to more music from Lauryn Hill?
