A proposed Maryland would eliminate kids from playing tackle football and other contact sports on public fields until they reach high school. The move would improve public health, according bill sponsor Del. Terri Hill.
“This is about a vulnerable population and developing brains,” Del. Terri Hill, a physician and Howard County Democrat, said Tuesday. “It’s a public health issue.”

calisweet04 Disagree! I think you train them proper tackles by regulations of the game. Kids will adjust 🙄🙄
leo_pryhde I disagree I think a solution could be that they start to play tackle football at 12 or 13 years old instead of starting at 7 years old. And maybe the youth league could have more safety procedures in place like the nfl has

chngthengteng A sport which encourages young children to destroy their brains through concussions and has documented proof of causing CTE should not be encouraged.
damontejr Next there will be a bill that would propose that you buy air at $.25 a breathe….My thoughts are….stop trying to tell me what’s good for me or mines stop trying to regulate every aspect of people’s lives.
ericasmith74 I agree
artwork_shorty Pointless! Why do this after decades of contact
mufasa_del_rey I disagree. This prevents the chance to enforce and reinforce proper tackling techniques early to prevent horrible accidents later on due to poor technique. Also, most kids who play ball aren’t going to play ball all their life. If anything, we should be enforcing coaching more so than just a wholesale ban on football, rugby, hockey and the like.
