'Inspired' by Music at the Bombay Sapphire Lounge

Talib Kweli had a few words for Gene Simmons in response to his controversial comments about the future of Hip-Hop.

Earlier this week, the rock legend and KISS co-founder spoke to Rolling Stone and shared his thoughts on Rap as a whole, in which he says “I am looking forward to the death of rap. I’m looking forward to music coming back to lyrics and melody, instead of just talking. A song, as far as I’m concerned, is by definition lyric and melody … or just melody.

Kweli, a known mouthpiece for the community, did not mince words when addressing Gene’s commentary.

Simmons quickly attempted to do damage control, claiming that he was only pointing out the “cyclical” aspect of the art.

As expected, Kweli didn’t let Simmons slide with his response to the backlash. Moments later, he shared a few KRS One lyrics in hopes of giving Simmons a hip-hop history lesson.

What are your thoughts on Simmons and Kweli’s feud?
