Joe Anderson is an example of persistence paying off. For six weeks, the former NFL player stood outside of the Houston Texans practice facility yearning for his second chance at playing professionally.

The Texas Southern University alum played nine games for the Bears between 2012 and 2013 but according to The NY Daily News, Anderson “does not have a catch recorded in the NFL.”

That didn’t stop the 27-year-old from believing football is his God-given talent. The cardboard sign that he proudly held outside of the stadium read, “Not homeless, but starving for success.” He also used the hashtags, #WillRunRoutes4food,” “WhateverIttakes,” “Underdog,” “Ibelieve” and “Hungry.”

The husband and father of two unapologetically documented his mission to get back into the NFL on social media.

An excerpt from one of his extensive Instagram posts said: “#NothingWillStopMe Lord it’s all in your hands, all I know is that I believe it by faith and see it all happening even when it looks like a joke before the eyes of man…I’m outside the Houston Texans facility every morning, because I know what type of gift God has blessed me with!!! A lot of people don’t really live out the meaning #WhateverItTakes they just sayin it!!”

We also loved this line from his caption, “Create and tell your testimony don’t be ashamed of it, do it all for the glory of the kingdom take yourself outta the picture I’m out here on FAITH, it’s bigger than just collecting a check to me…”

Unfortunately, Anderson didn’t get a spot on the Texas team. The virality of his social media post did however catch the attention of the NY Jets and he was recently signed to their practice squad. A positive step towards getting back on the field.

“Thank you Jesus for blessing me and my family with this job for Christmas! Now it’s time to continue to work with all my heart and help make this team better and be the best teammate I can be to all my brothers in that locker room.”

Congrats Joe! Beauties, what goals are you working towards in the New Year?
