Fourteen states have recalled frozen corn after bacteria linked to possible serious or fatal infections was discovered during routine testing.

The New York-based company, Bonduelle USA, Inc., has halted distribution on the product and urged customers to throw theirs away. The corn is distributed through multiple brands, including Bountiful Harvest, Wylwood, and Market Basket.

The corn has been sold in the following states:

  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Massachusetts
  • Vermont
  • Ohio
  • Indiana
  • Florida
  • North Carolina
  • Mississippi
  • Kentucky
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Louisiana

While the bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes, has yet to result in any reported illness, an infection can cause fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, diarrhea, and in serious cases, even death. It is especially harmful to young children and the elderly.

If you’ve purchased the contaminated corn and would like a refund, contact Bonduelle USA, Inc. at 1-877-990-2662.
