GRAMMY Festival At Sea: Women Who Rock - Day 1

Maimouna Youssef is talented, intelligent, humble and did I mention talented?

I profiled her on my blog (ThisRadioChickRocks) after I heard her music from a CD she gave me after we met briefly here at the radio station.

Maimouna or MuMu Fresh has performed with Common, Queen Latifah, Erykah Badu and she’s a Baltimore native! She’s been singing since she was 5 and she doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon.

This is what she had to say about her legacy and where she sees herself in 5 years:

In 5 years, I envision myself having completed and released 2-3 more critically acclaimed albums that I really feel proud of creatively. I’m really excited about building up my youth artist development company.  Before 5 year’s time, I would like to be in a position to sponsor my own company’s world promo tours . I’d love to delve into acting.  And lastly before 5 year’s time, I plan to complete my first screen play to become a feature film.

My legacy will be continually promoting and perpetuating Black Excellence.
