This week, I will start by congratulating the players of Bethune-Cookman who mauled Savannah State 49 to 7 on their way to the MEAC conference title. Bethune-Cookman’s win now qualifies coach Brian Jenkins Wildcats to compete in the FCS (Football Championship Series) Playoffs. Meanwhile our beloved Morgan State Bears were denied any points in their 30-0 loss to NorfolkState. Howard did not look any better as they lost to Georgia Southern 69 to 26!
There is only one unbeaten team in HBCU football and that distinction belongs to the defending Black College National Champion Winston-Salem State Rams whoare now 11-0. Coach Connell Maynors Rams are ranked #4 in all of D-2 football and secured their spot in the D-2 playoffs bybeating Elizabeth City State for the CIAA Championship 34 to 19 !
