Our favorite R&B artist, married to Shannon Brown, Mrs. Monica Brown, celebrates 31 years today! The Georgia native began singing with her traveling choir at age ten and today is one of the most adored artist in the industry. It would be three years later when Monica would sign with Arista Records, as the start of her professional career. She released her first studio album, Miss Thang in 1995 which included two hit records, “Don’t Take It Personal” and “Before You Walk out of My Life”. These hit singles would make her the youngest artist to release two consecutive chart topping singles on the US Billboard Top R&B Singles chart in the industry.
Monica has released six albums after the success of her first and experiences some personal struggles that would cause her to take a career hiatus in the early 2000s. Yet despite all of her struggles Monica still manage to have sold over 20 million albums in the past 15 years of her career. In 2010, Billboard listed Arnold at number 24 on its list of the Top 50 R&B and Hip Hop Artists of the past 25 years. Today Monica is currently working on her latest album, “New life”, has married NBA star Shannon Brown, and is raising 2 children.
