Coretta Scott King would have been 84 years old today. The wife of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. worked tirelessly after her husband’s death in 1968 to carry on his legacy and only recently began to slow down her efforts. King died in her sleep in 2006 from cardio-respiratory failure, cerebral vascular illness and ovarian cancer.
