National healthcare reform is expected to save the state $829 million over the next ten years and provide coverage to nearly 350,000 people. The plan will provide insurance to half of the state’s uninsured.
Nearly 40 percent of Marylanders, about 700,000 people, are currently uninsured. That will fall to about 6.7 percent with national reform. Those expected to be left uninsured would be illegal immigrants and those who choose not to be covered.
