Friday June 25th the Miami Heat’s DJ Irie hosted his sixth annual Celebrity Golf Tournament to raise funds for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Miami.

After a welcome reception on the roof of the Gansevoort Hotel Irie jumped on the 1s and 2s at Liv Nightclub. The following day everyone from Luke Wilson to Uncle Luke was on the scene to sink a few puts for charity.

“It’s a game and a party with a purpose,” says Irie who was born in St. Croix but raised in Miami. “I would be remiss if I didn’t do something that gave back to my community.”

While he was busy helping others Irie received some accolades as well. Irie was treated to having his 2011 Denali tricked out by Specialty Automotive Treatments of Ft Lauderdale and honored with an original painting by artist Stephen Gamson.

However, with so many athletes in the building (including Chris Bosh and James Posey) TheUrbandaily had to ask Irie about his hopes for the free agent frenzy kicking off tomorrow.

“Our own hero Dwyane Wade will be a free agent in a couple days and we’re all hoping he comes back to Miami,” says Irie who partied with Pat Riley and the whole team during his weekend back in 2006 when they won their first championship.

“Miami is a wonderful place not just to live but to play in. It’s a great organization, we have a great history and we are champions. There’s a lot that’s attractive about our organization and our city. Not only do I think that Dwyane will be back with us but I think we’ll see some cool other pieces of the puzzle come together.”

Of course LeBron is on the top of everyone’s list but who else would he like to see suiting up for his home team?

“I would also love to see Carlos Boozer and Chris Bosh in Miami. I adore those guys, they’re amazing players and amazing talents and I’d love to see them rocking some black, white and red!”
