Common’s last album, Universal Mind Control, left a lot of long time fans of the Chi-town MC scratching their heads.

However, his forthcoming album, The Believer, may turn those head scratchers into head nodders.

In an interview with Billboard.com, the rapper born Lonnie Rashid Lynn says that the new album is for the streets.

“It’s ‘good’ music,” he said. “The themes are street music and elevation, things that I feel like I always embody when I rap. But here there’s new situations, new solutions.”

Com also revealed that he’ll be working with Kanye West, who lent his skills to sizable chunks of Common’s Be and Finding Forever albums, as well as No I.D. who provided beats for Com early on in his career, most notably on the classic Resurrection album.

“I’m striving to get it out in the fall,” he said.

Com also said to expect a single in late summer or early fall.

If you need a fix of good ol’ Com Sense now, he appears alongside Queen Latifah in the new film Just Wright, which hits theaters on May 14th!
