Snoop Dogg Biopic Casts Myles Bullock Be as Dr. Dre
Universal’s upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic has found its Dr. Dre. Myles Bullock Be has been cast as the legendary producer and rapper, joining Jonathan Daviss, who will portray Snoop.
Dre’s role is central to Snoop’s story, given his influence on the Long Beach rapper’s early career. Dre helped introduce Snoop to a national audience and played a major role in shaping the sound of his earliest work.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bullock Be joins the film after appearing in Peacock’s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, where he portrayed Willie Black. The casting also reunites him with director Craig Brewer, who worked on the limited series.
Bullock Be’s other credits include White Men Can’t Jump, BMF, and Marvel’s Runaways. He is also set to appear as a series regular in Hulu’s upcoming Prison Break: Black Creek.
Portraying Dr. Dre will place Bullock Be in one of the most important periods of Snoop’s career. Dre discovered Snoop’s early demos and brought him into the recording sessions for his 1992 album The Chronic. Snoop’s appearances on tracks such as “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” helped introduce his voice to a wider audience before he had released his own debut album.
Dre later produced Snoop’s 1993 debut, Doggystyle, which debuted at No. 1 and became one of the landmark albums of West Coast hip-hop.
