Trump Says Russia-Ukraine Ceasefire Talks Are Officially On the Table
In what could be a major turning point in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, President Donald Trump announced that both countries will “immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire”—and possibly even an end to the war.
The announcement came after a two-hour phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, a conversation Trump described as having an “excellent tone and spirit.”
“The conditions for that will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be, because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
But Trump wasn’t just focused on peace. He also said there’s a major opportunity for business once the conflict ends, claiming that Russia wants to do large-scale trade with the U.S. and has the “UNLIMITED” potential to create new jobs and wealth.
Trump added that Ukraine could also come out on top—economically—if peace is reached, saying the country could be a “great beneficiary on Trade.”
Putting the World on Notice
According to his post, Trump immediately informed global leaders—including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, France’s Emmanuel Macron, and others—about the contents of the call.
And in a somewhat unexpected twist, the Vatican is stepping up, with the Pope reportedly expressing interest in hosting the peace negotiations.
This is now the third known phone call between Trump and Putin since Trump’s return to the spotlight, and it comes at a time when frustration with the ongoing war has reached new highs in political circles.
Will this be the beginning of the end for the Russia-Ukraine war? That remains to be seen—but the world is definitely watching.
