After disappointing fans once again by canceling the 25th anniversary tour for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the legendary singer has an explanation.

Hill took to Instagram saying the decision to pull out of the U.S. tour dates was very difficulty to make, but the shows in the UK and Europe are still scheduled as planned.

The icon also explained that last year she suffered from an injury that forced her to reschedule some of her shows, but the media sensationalized the entire situation.

“Regrettably some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour. The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal.”

Hill went on to say that, “no one is more disappointed about not being able to perform” than she is, and that she’s grateful for those who appreciate and support her. She also promised her U.S. fans that once these “unforseen circumstances are resolved,” they’ll be back in action to perform in the states.

Hill and The Fugees are expected to kick off the UK and European leg of the tour on Oct. 2 in Dublin, Ireland.
