Mrs. Carter is set to perform at this year’s Oscar awards to be perform her nominated “Be Alive”, but as you know after the show it’s the After Party, and that’s where the problem lies.
This Sunday, JAY-Z is set to host his annual Oscar After-party, ‘Gold Party’, at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. This hotel has come under fire recently for the hotels alleged treatment of their employees, which includes racial discremination and sexual harassment.
Kurt Peterson, co-President of UNITE HERE Local 11 tells, The Hollywood Reporter, “for JAY-Z to choose the Chateau Marmont for their Gold Party is shockingly insensitive. They must move their event and choose an after-party hot spot that treats its workers, especially Black women, with dignity and respect. JAY-Z has a responsibility to do better. We hope JAY-Z joins Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae, Robin Thede, Quinta Brunson, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Roxane Gay, Ashley Nicole Black and Samira Wiley in boycotting Chateau Marmont.”
The boycotting of the hotel and after party will kick off Sunday at 8pm.
