Congrats are in order for Morgan State University’s Head Football Coach Tyrone Wheatley, “who is on his way back to the National Football League as the new running backs coach for the Denver Broncos,” according to ESPN. Wheatley, 50, has led Morgan State an HBCU program, the past three years, although the team did not play in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. He was 5-18 overall at Morgan State.

Wheatley is not new to the Pro Level. He was a first-round draft pick of the New York Giants in 1995, played 10 NFL seasons. He finished with 4,962 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. After he finished his professional career he started coaching in the NFL as the running backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. He also has experience at the Power 5 Level of college sports for Micihgan, Syracuse and a host of other college programs. He has also worked alongside new Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett in Jacksonville when Hackett served as offensive coordinator.
