There’s a new owner soon to be in town. Former major league superstar and MLB analyst Alex Rodriguez and billionaire Marc Lore are finalizing a deal to purchase the Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA Minnesota Lynx from majority owner Glen Taylor, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

The purchase price in the deal is expected to be in the $1.5 billion range, sources said. July 2020, Taylor the current owner announced that he was looking to sell both teams. The terms of the sale are similar to talks Taylor had in the past year with billionaire Ryan Smith, who walked away from a potential deal to ultimately purchase the Utah Jazz for $1.66 billion in October.

If the deal continues to proceed and the Board of Governors in the NBA and WNBA approve the details for purchase of sale, ownership will take affect in 2023.

Wish a woman could have been apart of the deal, however, new ownership is on the horizon and A.Rod will finally sit in the owners box.

A.Rod recently was in line to purchase the New York Mets, before the deal ultimately led to other purchasing hindrances.
