Mariah Carey is not playing with her name in 2017: put some respek on it!

The superstar is suing a South American concert promoter after she canceled shows in Argentina and Chile because they didn’t pay her in full. According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, MC was set to perform on October 28 in Argentina and on October 30 in Chile, but by October 25 there was still an unpaid balance for both of the shows and Mariah canceled.

The suit claims that the delayed payments gave the singer the right to cancel and be paid in full, however, FEG Entretenimientos is accusing the singer of damaging their brand by failing to perform. Bryan Freedman, Mariah’s attorney, wrote a complaint, saying “In the music industry everyone knows the familiar story of the deceitful promoter that promises to pay and fails to deliver. This lawsuit is filed in part not only to confirm the multiple breaches of the contracts by FEG, but to warn the artistic community not to trust any promises from FEG.”

Freedman also argued that it was unreasonable to expect Carey to undertake the expenses of traveling such a long distance with the team and equipment needed for the concerts on the faith that the payments would be made, just two days before the rest of the shows continued.

The news comes just a week after Mariah Carey blamed the Dick Clark Rockin’ New Year’s Eve production staff for her failed new year’s eve performance.
