'Game Of Silence' Party With Larenz Tate

It used to seem as if sequels and franchises were regulated to super hero films and action movies (i.e. do we really need a Fast & Furious 8?) However, with the third installment of Barbershop in theatres now and The Best Man Wedding being released this fall, fans are definitely interested in revisiting some of their beloved characters from memorable black movies.

Despite Larenz Tate‘s filmography including House Of Lies, Rescue Me, Ray and Why Do Fools Fall In Love, the 40-year-old is constantly asked about the 1997 classic, Love Jones which also starred Nia Long.

While promoting his new NBC show, Game Of Silence, Larenz told the hosts of the “Don’t Be Scared” podcast that he would be interested in reprising the role of Darius Lovehall but the process of bringing the film to fruition isn’t as easy as fans may think.

“The script would have to be dope, We don’t want to compromise on the integrity of the movie and what has become a classic to people” said Larenz.

“It would have to make sense to the studios, they have a big say in that. When people bring that up if I could take some sort of analyzation or analytics for every person who said “let’s do a Love jones 2”—When I communicate that to studios [they’re like] ‘Oh that’s cool, they’re fans. We get that from all movies’ But naw, the culture is on something else. The culture is saying something different.”

If Think Like A Man could get a sequel, we deserve a Love Jones 2! Listen to the full interview below and let us know what sequels have impressed you and what films should have been left alone.
