Spike Lee was honored at this year’s Governors Awards and brought the house down with a 17-minute speech. With Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, and Wesley Snipes in his corner, Spike took his time discussing his Oscar-edition Air Jordans, his rise to behind-the-scenes stardom, and the lack of diversity in the film industry.
The famed movie producer boldly declared his industry as “so far behind sports,” adding: “It’s easier to be President of the United States as a Black person than be head of a studio. Honest.”
He also reminded all the White folk in the building that they’d be a part of the minority by year 2043. Watch the legend work just above.
