Uzo Aduba

The waterworks began early during Sunday’s presentation of the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, as Uzo Aduba choked back tears while accepting the evening’s first award. Aduba won Best Female Actor in a Comedic Series for her role as Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren on the Netflix series Orange Is The New Black.

‘I want to thank my friends,’ Aduba said during her acceptance speech. ‘I want to thank my family and just finally I really, really, truly want to say that the day I got this job was the day I had stopped acting, and to be in a room with all you amazing human beings, amazing talents, for what I love and respect so much, is really, truly the greatest honor. Thank you so very much. God bless you.’

In August of 2014, Aduba also won a Primetime Emmy for her work on Orange Is The New Black. The series continues to draw critical acclaim, having won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series later in the evening.

The third season of Orange Is The New Black is scheduled to premiere during the summer of 2015 on Netflix.
