The sales tax holiday for general merchandise purchased in Maryland is scheduled for August 12-18, 2012 and applies to clothing priced at $100 or less and footwear priced at $100 or less.

Not all general merchandise items are included in the sales tax holiday. For example, accessories such as jewelry, watches, watchbands, handbags, handkerchiefs, umbrellas, scarves, ties, headbands, and belt buckles are not tax-exempt.
