HIP- HOP DOES HAVE A HEART
and I believe that we could all give a little to help this man stay alive.
Like the flyer says, His daughter needs him.
His name is Christopher “Crismo” Lyles and I first heard about his story through my fb friend, Carrie Carruso (pictured below with Kelson).
She sent me some information on his story and a flyer to promote a fundraising event to benefit Lyles and I reposted it.
Then last Saturday, The Q Crew and I were collecting food donations for the Bea Gaddy foundation (at the Stop Shop & Save on N. Monroe St.) and I met Donte Stanley and his family (pictured below w/ me).
Donte also shared Christopher Lyles’ story with me and spoke very highly of him…I was like “wow this guy must be something to have so many people behind him” and within a few seconds Donte had Chris on the phone. Yes, I spoke to him…and I told him he would be in my prayers. Chris told me a little about what he was about to embark on. He seemed to be in great spirits, anxious to have the transplant and very concerned about his medical expenses.
I know many families fight with disease and I wish we could help all of them but for now I ask that you help this one man and his family….because he is our family, they are our family. He is a fellow Baltimorean, Morgan Grad, JHU Grad, a father, husband, a brother (DJ 5 Starr is his brother & pictured below), and obviously someone that has made a positive impact on many people around him.
Chris must have this tracheal transplant to remove this rare form of cancer. The transplant will take place in Sweden, therefore it will not be covered by his insurance. The expenses may exceed over $300,000.
For this reason, a fundraising campaign in Christopher’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live formerly “National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF)”. Help Hope Live is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years.
