Tax-free shopping is coming to Maryland.
Between Aug. 8 and Aug. 14, select clothing and footwear items sold for $100 or less will be exempt from Maryland’s 6 percent state sales tax. Accessories are not included.
The tax-free week will run from 12:01 a.m. Aug 8. to midnight Aug. 14, as the start of the new school year nears.
Meanwhile, the state has also planned a tax-free weekend Feb. 19-21, during which the sales and use tax will not apply to certain Energy Star products or solar water heaters.
Energy Star products means an air conditioner, clothes washer or dryer, furnace, heat pump, standard size refrigerator, compact fluorescent light bulb, dehumidifier, or programmable thermostat designated as meeting or exceeding the applicable Energy Star Efficiency requirements developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
