RG III Doubles Down: Angel Reese Hates Caitlin Clark
Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III sparked controversy after reposting a graphic depicting Angel Reese to a monkey and claiming he was told by someone in her “inner circle” that she “hates Caitlin Clark.”
Reese fired back on X saying Griffin was “lying for clout” and that “everybody knows the first and last name of everybody in my circle.” She dismissed his claims as “nasty work” designed as click bait. Her mother Angel Webb Reese also responded directly on X.
Other prominent sports voices weighed in on the social media exchange including former NFL player Ryan Clark, who called Griffin’s move self-serving and accused him of deflecting from the racist imagery by stirring drama. Civil rights leader Bernice King also urged Griffin to contact Reese directly instead of airing rumors online.
This latest fiasco comes amid ongoing media-fueled speculation around Reese’s rivalry with Caitlin Clark, a narrative both athletes have repeatedly downplayed. Griffin claims his heart was in the right place defending Reese from racist backlash. However, Reese and her camp are united in declaring the Angel-hates-Caitlin remarks as false, manipulative, and absolutely not reflective of her close-knit circle.
