When & How It’ll Happen
- This Morning: Dry and cloudy, with temperatures in the low 30s.
- This Afternoon (1–5 PM): Snow starts moving in from the south.
- Evening Commute: Moderate to heavy snow expected, especially in Southern Maryland. Roads will likely get messy fast.
- Overnight: Snow continues, with temperatures dipping into the upper 20s, making for icy, slick conditions.
- By early Wednesday morning, some freezing drizzle and sleet could mix in, especially on bridges and untreated roads, so be careful if you’re out and about.
What’s Next? More Wintry Mess
Just as things start to settle Wednesday morning, another system is rolling in by the evening. Depending on how cold it stays, this could start as freezing rain and sleet before turning to plain rain overnight. Areas like Carroll, Frederick, and Washington counties (plus parts of northern Baltimore and Harford counties) could see some icy conditions before the switch to rain.
By late Wednesday night, temperatures should rise into the mid-to-upper 30s, meaning rain will take over completely. That rain will stick around through early Thursday morning before moving out.
Bottom Line? Expect tough travel conditions late today through Wednesday morning, with another round of messy weather Wednesday evening. If you can, stay off the roads when the snow is coming down hardest.
