Donald Trump is gearing up for his hush money case in New York scheduled for Friday however, he is not asking Supreme court to block it. Trump’s lawyers wrote in the new filing,

“This Court should enter an immediate stay of further proceedings in the New York trial court to prevent grave injustice and harm to the institution of the Presidency and the operations of the federal government.”

Their main argument is that the case should not go forward because Trump was protected by presidential immunity. Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.

“The Supreme Court’s historic decision on Immunity, the Constitution, and established legal precedent mandate that this meritless hoax be immediately dismissed.”

Trump was convicted in May of falsifying records related to hush money that his then-attorney Michael Cohen paid adult film star Stormy Daniels in the closing days of the 2016 presidential election. Daniels testified she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, a claim he has denied.
