The street outside of Trayvon Martin’s high school, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High, will be renamed in his honor.
According to People Mag, commissioners in Miami approved the decision this week.
A government memorandum stated that the 2012 shooting of 17-year-old Martin at the hands of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman “elicited national conversations about race relations, racial profiling, gun rights, stand your ground laws, and was a catalyst that set nationwide demands for social justice in motion.”
